Doris Irene (Roberts) Hance passed away September 26, 2022 at the age of 98 years.
Services will be held Oct. 3 at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson with commissioned pastor Wendy Pittman officiating. Interment will be at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Doris was born in 1924 at Creston to Ray Roberts and Blanche (Foley) Roberts.
Doris moved to Jefferson with her family in 1956. She retired in 1999 after 25 years of service at the Jefferson Monument Works.
She lived in her home for 63 years. She loved gardening, flowers, making quilts by hand, her many friends and playing in numerous bridge clubs (she was a tough competitor). She volunteered for many organizations including the Presbyterian Church, Meals on Wheels, Greene County Medical Center and the Mahanay Bell Tower.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents ,Ray and Blanche Roberts; her brother Glen Roberts; and infant great-grandchildren Evan Hance and Robbie McIntyre.
She will be mourned by her sons Steven Hance (Patricia) of Anamosa, and Michael Hance (Linda) of Cypress, TX; grandchildren Brad and Lindsay Hance of Cedar Rapids, Brian Hance of Anamosa, Alison and Reid McIntyre of Westminster, CO, Rachel and Hitesh Juneja of Dallas, TX, and Nicole and Greg Cogan of Chapel Hill, NC; and great-grandchildren Kaden and Colton Hance of Cedar Rapids, Remi and Riley McIntyre of Westminster, and Josiah, Andrew and Noah Juneja of Dallas..
The family would like to also give special thanks to her caring neighbors and friends, especially Rod Hartwig, who helped her achieve her steadfast dream of remaining in her home of 63 years for as long as she could. A gift that she and her family deeply appreciate.
